Hi Joe,
thanks for all the info and comments regarding the Mark 7 on your forum. I fell off my piano bench (while playing on my Mark V) when I heard the news about the rebirth… I do agree with most of your impressions about both technical and cosmetical aspects of the new generation. Being quite sceptical myself about the mark 7, all I can say is wait and see. I have owned almost every Rhodes models available but the Student and they all have amazed me and given much joy to play. Since I do have a mark V (by the way if you want some snaps – just ask), which is allegedly the pinnacle of Rhodes pianos, I wonder like you if the mark 7 isn’t just a marketing product that won’t be as revolutionnary as expected. It seems, for example, that these pianos are made for high end studios rather than built for the roughness of touring. A little too shiny as it happens. But then again I haven’t seen one in real life and after all these are Beta versions – the Rhodes technicians have for sure collected a lot of critics at NAMM which, I trust, will give enough thoughts to their R and D dept. I will, of course, check both your forum and their website to keep myself informed about what’s going on -I believe France won’t see one of those before 2008 and I wonder who will import them (Roland Corp.?) and at what price…. All the best to you. Cheerio. Y C GREY
